Office Manager - Drive Organisation & Culture at Dunedin Railways

Dunedin Railways is seeking a proactive and versatile Office Manager to keep our organisation running smoothly and support the leadership team in delivering one of New Zealand’s most iconic tourism experiences.
This is a unique opportunity to combine your organisational, administrative, and people skills in a role that spans finance support, HR, office coordination, and cultural leadership.
About the Role
Reporting to the General Manager, you’ll be the central point of coordination across the business, ensuring day-to-day operations are efficient and effective. From managing payroll and finance administration to supporting recruitment, onboarding, and staff engagement, this role is at the heart of how we work together.
You’ll also play a key role in shaping our positive workplace culture, making sure Dunedin Railways is a place where people feel supported, connected, and able to do their best work.
Key Responsibilities
› Support finance processes (AP/AR, reconciliations, audit, budgets)
› Provide executive support to the GM (scheduling, correspondence, travel)
› Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, and HR record keeping
› Maintain office and facilities, including IT, supplies, and vendor management
› Assist with policies, procedures, and business improvement projects
› Foster a strong culture through staff events, engagement activities, and day-to-day support
About You
We’re looking for someone who thrives on variety, enjoys being the “go-to” person, and has the confidence to keep multiple plates spinning. You’ll bring strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and a people-focused mindset.
You’ll ideally have:
› Proven experience in office management, administration, or coordination roles

Customer Engagement Manager

At Dunedin Railways, we don’t just run trains - we create unforgettable journeys through some of New Zealand’s most spectacular landscapes. We’re looking for a Customer Experience Manager to take the lead on service, storytelling, and everything that makes our passengers say “wow.”
About the Role
This is no ordinary management job. Reporting to the General Manager, you’ll be in charge of the end to end customer journey, from booking to boarding, onboard commentary to final farewells.
You’ll lead our onboard storytellers and customer service crew, oversee our booking systems, and make sure every detail, from rostering to refreshments, runs smoothly. You’ll also have a hand in the bigger picture: refining our customer lens, spotting opportunities to innovate, and building partnerships that add value and delight.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support our onboard and customer service team - rosters, training, coaching, and culture.
- Oversee the booking system, group bookings, liaise with shore excursion teams, plan and run end to end for cruise calls, and customer communications.
- Drive initiatives that lift customer satisfaction, NPS, and repeat visitation.
- Manage retail, procurement, and front-of-house presentation.
- Partner with marketing and sales teams to host trade, agents, and VIP guests.
- Keep a close eye on customer feedback and turn insights into improvements.
- Balance the books — be accountable for budgets, reporting, and smart spending.
About You
We’re looking for someone who thrives in tourism, loves people, and can turn good service into great experiences. You’ll be organised, adaptable, and commercially savvy, as comfortable solving a tricky rostering puzzle as you are chatting with passengers on the platform.
Ideally you'll bring:
- Proven leadership in tourism or customer service.
- Strong operational management skills (rostering, systems, budgets).
- A knack for storytelling and creating memorable customer moments.
- The ability to juggle detail and big picture thinking.
- Energy, positivity, and a commitment to delivering excellence.
